The quilombola community of Três Lagoas, located in the rural area of Amargosa - Bahia, is the focus of the present study. The habitants shows an extensive use and knowledge of medicinal plants, and to date, there have been no reports of studies demonstrating the ethnobotanical potential of the region. In this context, the survey presented in this article aims to provide information about the plants traditionally used for therapeutic purposes through visits and interviews in the community. Data collection was carried out through semistructured questionnaires, and the species mentioned were collected, herborized, deposited at Recôncavo da Bahia Herbarium HURB, for botanical identification and subjected to literature review. Of the 82 plants reported, Erva Cidreira, Capim Santo, Espinho Cheiroso, Sete Sangria and Mastruz, stand out for their frequency of citations. They were mainly indicated for the treatment of inflammatory, infectious respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The literature review conducted for the 16 most cited plants demonstrated that majority of indications corroborate with pre-clinical and clinical studies. Thus, the study, with its local novelty, highlights the valorization of community knowledge, preserving cultural heritage, and contributes to the preservation of local biodiversity.
